Carpathian resort with excellent facilities
Bușteni offers excellent skiing in the Carpathians with modern facilities and beautiful mountain scenery.
Bușteni has 12 pistes served by 5 lifts — 4th for pistes of the 15 resorts we track in Romania. On lifts it ranks 6th of the 15.
The lifts run from 900m at the base to 2000m at the top, a vertical of 1100m. Of the 15 resorts we track in Romania, that is the highest, with the 2nd biggest vertical.
The base is below 1,000m, so the lowest runs are the first to suffer in a mild spell; the upper mountain is the safer bet early and late in the season.
The pistes at Bușteni split 30% beginner, 50% intermediate and 20% advanced, against an average of 37% beginner and 17% advanced across the resorts we track in Romania.
On those numbers it suits beginners and intermediates.
Over the last ten winters Bușteni has typically held skiable snow at mid-mountain from around 25 January to 25 February, about 32 days.
February is the best all-round month on the record, with an average base of 33cm, 38cm of new snow and 1.2 bluebird days.
Month-by-month snow history →The nearest airport with scheduled flights is Brașov-Ghimbav (GHV), 34km away in a straight line. Bucharest Henri Coandă (OTP) is 102km, Bucharest Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu (BBU) is 109km. Road distances are longer, often much longer in the mountains, and the nearest airport is not always the one with the most flights.
A 6-day adult Bușteni (Kalinderu) costs RON 550 for 2025/26, an estimate rather than a published price, or RON 92 a day.
Full lift pass prices and history →Airports with scheduled flights, nearest first. Distances are straight-line; by road they are longer, and in the mountains often much longer.
Pick the airport you fly from for an estimate of the journey to the resort.
Estimates from straight-line distances, not timetables: flights at typical cruising speed plus taxi and climb, transfers at an average 65 km/h by road. They leave out check-in and baggage time, and mountain roads in snow can take much longer. Check with airlines and transfer companies before booking.
