The first Winter Olympics was not called that at the time

Chamonix held its competitions in January and February 1924 as an "International Winter Sports Week", with athletes from 16 nations. The IOC later granted them, retrospectively, the status of the first Winter Olympics. Alpine skiing was not on the programme.

Seven resorts on one lift pass in the Three Valleys

Courchevel, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Les Menuires, Val Thorens and Orelle are all connected on skis, around 600 km of piste on a single pass.

Figures describe France as a whole, not just the resorts we track. Skier visits are shown only where a national industry body or two independent reports agree.
